What is the experience of racism and discrimination among racialized employees in French universities? The quantitative survey ACADISCRI, conducted in 2020, examines how institutional racism combines with everyday racism in the interactions of racialized employees with their work environment. A dual process is observed, with these employees being concentrated in various contractual statuses and in lower-ranking positions among permanent staff. This situation results from national policies dismantling the civil servant status, which is very protective for employees. At the level of workplace interactions, these policies manifest in deteriorated working relationships where everyday racism translates into micro-aggressions, the frequency and diversity of which lead to a degradation of working conditions. This includes the imposition of numerous small humiliations and exclusions, as well as the imposition of degraded working hours.
